Aging and Metabolism: Let’s be Friends Again

As you age your metabolism begins to slow down. Everyone has a metabolism, whether it is fast or slow depends on the person. Your metabolism is the set of chemical transformations within the cells of living organisms.

There are ways to boost your metabolism and keep your metabolism moving at a fast rate. Boosting your metabolism can sometimes be simple. Eating certain foods can give your metabolism a push in the right direction

Here are five foods that will gently push your metabolism in the right direction:

Celery:

When you think of celery you think of one of those diet foods that add to healthy eating. Celery is a great snack when you want to switch out those crunchy potato chips. The benefits of celery go past the fact that it is a low-calorie healthy food.

Celery is a great vegetable that is packed with lots of water as well as fiber, which is a fat burning friend. Celery helps increase your metabolism by using the energy that is used by your body to increase urine production which helps push your metabolism.

Chicken:

Any lean protein helps boost your metabolism while building your muscle mass at the same time. Chicken is a great option when you are looking for a protein that boosts your metabolism because it is high in protein and low in fat.

There are many benefits of this lean protein:

  • Aides sore muscles
  • Keeps you feeling full
  • Gives you healthy skin, hair, and nails

Apples:

Have you ever heard the saying an apple a day keeps the dentist away? Well, that saying is true, but apples also play a key role in boosting your metabolism. Apples contain low calories and are a nutrient dense source of fiber.
